Recovery between rounds or recovery in remission are equally important. The only difference is the amount of time off you get so don't overlook its importance.

#1: stay healthy and listen to your body : you are weaker than usual and the possibility of neutropenic is almost certain after each round of chemo. Stay clear from germs and infections, wash your hands and rinse mouth with salt water or baking soda frequently. This is especially important for patient with small children at home. Everyone around you needs to stay clean at all times. Try to avoid crowded places like shopping or gym and do not push yourself on activities. An infection delays your treatment schedule. Check your temperature at the least once a day, if it is 100.4 or more then you need to call your doctor or go straight to the ER.

#2: manage your support : get a friend to connect and organize your support group. You nominate someone reliable to organize for you, like a manager for appointments, transport, food delivery, visiting schedule and blog posting. Your job is to focus on your treatment and recovery and how to get help is a stress point so outsource it! Your caregiver is overwhelmed with the disease too so don't stress him/her with extra tasks.

#3: live life as normal and create a routine : use your recovery time wisely, such as cook a meal, write 'thank you' email, take a small walk, catch up on your favorite TV show, or even organize your closet. Small tasks will ease time pass and give sense of accomplishment. When you wake up in the morning, write down one or two tasks you want to see yourself achieve for the day.

I am really big on food so I will share some of my recipes with you, these help cut through the metallic taste in my mouth so I hope these work for you too. Remember you need all your daily calories and you will lose those weigh when you are in treatment. If you find these useful, then I will upload more on request!
